An irrational fear of otters. Apparently, it's real.

Is it true? Can otters be scary?

>> No.3675

Well the page does say it's the "irrational" fear of otters, so the otters aren't scare, the person is just afraid of them. I wish any people with lutraphobia a swift recovery.

If you're a fish!

I do hope that anyone afraid of otters can get over it though. Maybe it's some sort of a reaction to not being able to really comprehend the greatness that otters possess, resulting in feelings of fear. And of course, as >>3675 said, it is specifically irrational. Definitely not the fault of the otter

I can understand why someone might find otters scary. The pitch black eyes, the sharp fangs, and the way they prey at night... Little river monsters... Brr...:hiding: (still love them though)

I recently started playing Sakuna: of Rice and Ruin and there's a tribe of beast people that might be based on otters? The game doesn't say outright (at least not as far as I've gotten into the game), though there's one time when someone calls one of them a "weasel" but that might have just been an insult. They look like some kind of mustelid and are described as living mostly by rivers. They're called the Ashigumo and are pretty cool, though most of the tribe was wiped out and now persists as undead specters which are definitely very spooky.
