hello otterchan! i really like otters (duh :P), so i decided to base my fursona off of one of them. can i have some advice so far? obviously it's just a very rough sketch at the moment, but i don't want to commit to anything and then have regrets about it later, so i'm politely requesting feedback now. i worry that it looks a little too much like the references in the top right (which belong to @squeakyspoopi.bsky.social), and so i want to get your thoughts on it. do you think it's too same-y? what are some physical features otter than (hehe) clothing that i can give my otter-sona in order to make him more physically unique? thank you so much!
I don't think its too samey. Maybe you could aim for something less small clawed otter and more spotted neck otter? They have cute fur patters, would differentiate things more?
otters have 5 toes on each hand with webbing between them, they have sharp claws or long fingers depending on species

This evening I was walking on the trail and I saw something moving straight down the trail towards me. It was dusky and I couldn't tell what it was at first, but then it turned and I could see its otter silhouette clearly! Then it ran off. It was very cool. I've seen an otter in nearly this exact same spot before. As far as I know it's not right near any water.
Detail any of your own otter encounters in this thread!
it would be cool to see an otter in my life

Greetings Otters.
I am curious if you are willing to share some of the developments you have made to wakaba.
In particular, I am interested in your additions to wakautils.pl and the support for additional file types. In return for these blessings, you will be given some nice salmon sashimi.
Thanks,

Ah, I misunderstood it that you had developed the filetypes to be renamed and thumbnailed by wakaba. That wouldn't.. happen to be a feature you're worked on would it? I did see that a new software is in development to replace this wakaba so it probably would be insignificant now.
Mh no I never finished the thumbnailing I'm afraid, we just do it the simplest way possible. If you're after a video thumbnail you can probably go into make_thumnbail(...) and shell out to ffmpeg to extract a frame>filetypes to be renamedWakaba already renames all files for you, you have to remove the bit in process_file(...) from around line 1068 in wakaba.pl that restores the original name for user defined types
I believe will take some modifications in order for wakaba to recognize it as a main file type so that it can use its thumbnail sub
here, I have discovered and tinkered with a wakaba fork that I found pretty interesting.
I understand that you are already developing a new imageboard software but it may still have some appeal, the moderation panel specifically.

Some animals blink with one eye at a time so they always have one eye open. How do otters do it? Have you ever seen an otter blink?
This one in the picture might be blinking or just closing his eyes, it's hard to tell from a photo.

Sometimes otters EAT the grass
Interesting relationship between otters and the grass
Sometimes they'll bask in it, sometimes they'll play with it, and sometimes, they'll bite it
It feels like a metaphor for love

This is a very distinguished otter, a connoisseur of urban art and expression. What other refined and artistic otters are there?
I forgot to give commentary on their beautiful singing. It's beautiful.

A Eurasian otter hunting in a shoal of Atlantic herring in northern Norway

Whoa look at him go! He deserved that fishy
He hunted through all those fishies just to find the single most delicious one!
It only takes one otter to frighten a thousand fish.
